about

I was previewing this, considering if I should release it on Buddhist on Fire. It really hit the spot. It has a quiet contemplative sound that I needed just as I was listening to it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Luciftias:

This piece represents a blending of my recent forays into guitar-based, Fripp-style delays with the post-effect manipulations of previous works. It was an improvisation recorded in one take with no overdubbing. Subsequent treatments included added reverb, stretching, and minor equalization. Only free libre open-source software was used at all stages.

Recorded November 2015 at Libresonic
Additional editing February 2016

Additional note:

I've tried to incorporate different approaches with the creative methods I've been using over the last 2 years. This piece is still guitar-based and was still actually played live and in one pass (i.e. no overdubs.) I did end up doing some post production work with it making closer in sound to my earlier works, however. I like that I've evolved my technique to where I could approximate this in a live setting, but I enjoy being able to massage the sound into something else as well. All in all, I think this piece was a good balance between the two.
